Legislative Responsibilities...
The general purpose of the Legislative Representative is to provide a unified voice for airports within the state to local, state and federal agencies as well as to the State Legislature and the Congress of the United States on all proposed or pending legislation relating to aviation.
The Legislative Representative keeps the Arkansas Airports and Board of Directors apprized of legislative issues both in Arkansas and Washington that relate to airports; the State Aeronautics Department and the DOT/FAA.
It is the responsibility of the Legislative Representative to notify Arkansas Airports of pending legislation and at times request that the airports notify their State Legislatures and Members of Congress to advise them of the AAOA’s position.
The AAOA is present at the State’s Capitol to protect the rights of the Airports and their funding issues.
Over the past four years, the AAOA has been successful in rallying the Arkansas Airports to defeat several issues that would ultimately reduce funding for the State’s Airports.
